Getting to Debrecen

• From the airport to the university/dorms: There is a local bus line (Airport 1/R1) from the airport that will take you into the city. Its final stop is the train station where you can change to the tram lines (Tram 1 or 2) to take you to the university main building or the dorm.

• From the train station to the university/dorms: Tram 1 and 2 depart from the train station and will take you to the university main building and the dorm.

• From the dorms to University: The dorm is a 20-minute walk away from the university, but you can also take bus 12, 23 or 24.

• From the University/dorms to the city center: From the dorm or the university building, it is also the easiest to take Tram 1 or 2 to take you into the center of the city.

• Tickets for local transportation: You can purchase tickets directly from the bus/tram drivers (only cash, a bit more expensive), but you can also purchase tickets at the ticket office that is right in front of the train station, where the trams depart from. You can purchase singular tickets, or you can buy them in a bulk of 10. It is also possible to get your tickets online in applications such as Simple or Mobile ticket for public transportation.

• Shopping: The closest grocery stores to the dorm are an Aldi (address: Ötvenhatosok tere 5/B) and a Spar (address: Ötvenhatosok tere 6/A), both of them are a 10-minute walk away and are right opposite each other. In the same building as Spar (the shopping center is called Délibáb), you can also find a drugstore called dm – drogerie markt.

• Pharmacies: In Hungary, even over-the-counter medications are sold only in pharmacies. The closest pharmacy to the dorm is a Benu pharmacy (address: Böszörményi út 75). (In Hungarian drugstores such as dm, you can only buy things such as soaps, shampoos, cleaning products.)

• Restaurants: The university has a cafeteria, called Nagyerdei Étterem, that offers a wide variety of lunch options for an affordable price every weekday. Some other restaurants around the university are Pepe Panini, Academy Gyros & Streetfood, Next Bistro and Roy Café.
