OVA board complete
We are happy to announce that as of yesterday, we have a full OVA board!
- General Member 1: Berit Gehrke
- General Member 2: Matěj Kundrát
- Semantics Member: Daria Seres
- Syntax Member: Magdalena Lohninger
- Phonology Member: Andrew Lamont
The two new board members (Daria and Andrew) were officially elected by all OVA members at yesterday’s general assembly. Welcome on board!
We also welcome 3 auditors to the team who make sure that our yearly financial report is correct: Fatemeh Sadat Hosseini, Polina Peshko and Justina Schindler. Thanks for taking over that job!
During the general assembly, we also got a lot of constructive feedback for future OVA schools - thanks to everyone who contributed, we will do our best to integrate all your great ideas in the organizing process.

Open Podium next week
On Wednesday and Thursday of week 2 there will be an Open Podium (aka Standing OVAtions) for students to present their work. More info here.

Welcome party on Tuesday & hiking trip on Saturday
Join us for the welcome party on Tuesday (July 28) and for the hiking trip on Saturday, for which you should sign up by Tuesday evening.

New addition to the programme
There will be a Japanese language course (with some linguistics) taught by Sayuri Arafune (professional Japanese teacher at the University of Salzburg & linguistics PhD student).
It will take place on Wed, Thur, Fri of week 1 and Mon, Tue of week 2, from 18.30-19.30 in room 109.

Opening of OVA 2026 on Monday
The opening of OVA 2026 will take place on Monday (July 27) at 9:00 in room II. Hope to see you there!

OVA registration closed and waiting list
Registration is now closed.
Cancellation: If you registered and cannot come in the end, please let us know no later than June 30.
Waiting list for registration with accommodation: Send us an email at ovasummerschool@gmail.com if you want to be added to the waiting list. As soon as a place opens up due to cancellation, we fill it with the first name on the waiting list.
Registration without accommodation is still possible and will be possible until the day before the school starts. Just send us an email at ovasummerschool@gmail.com.

Hello everyone,
as many of you are aware, the board of the EGG summer school split up in September 2025. This post is to say that we, four of the former EGG members (Berit, Deniz, Lena and Petra) will continue organizing a school, OVA.
