OVA 2026 - Social programme
The local organisers offered to organise two events: a social gathering to welcome everyone on Tuesday, July 28, and an excursion on Saturday between the two weeks (August 1). Those two are the official ones, but everyone is encouraged to organise other spontaneous/semi-spontaneous activities, and the local organisers can help facilitate organising these if need be.
Welcome party: Tuesday, July 28, starting at 19h
Let’s get together on day 1 to welcome everyone, at Csinibaba Kultkert.
There is a possibility of buying food at the place (hamburger, gyros, streetfood), but if many people eat at once, serving will become very slow. So the local organisers suggest having dinner in advance, to avoid long waits.
Hiking excursion: Saturday, August 1, departing at 9:30 am from the dorm
(A google form for signing up will be created in due time - the bus we rented can fit 50 people.)
You are kindly invited to the OVA-DEL trip, on 1 August.
The destination of the trip the Erdőspuszta Adventure Park (“Élménypark”). To get there, we will take a short bus ride at 9:30 from the dorm to the edge of Debrecen. From there we will walk through the forest area to the Élménypark (approx. 1,5 hour walk). There is no entrance fee to the facility. A snack bar is available where we can have something to eat and drink. Alternatively, there is also a proper restaurant, we can decide there based on attendance and time considerations.
Apart from eating, we might try various attractions that you can check out at the website. Most of these have some fee, but there is an area where you can pet animals (goats, rabbits) and that is free. The Élménypark is generally is nice area to hang around in, so we will have a good time regardless of the extra programmes.
When we are done there, we will use an alternative route back to the starting point of the walk and take the bus back to the dorm. We expect to be back to the dorm around 19:00.
You can check out an approximation of our planned walking route here.
Here are some pictures from a previous walk with this plan.
The terrain is easy and flat, but as we are going to walk on dirt roads, closed shoes are recommended (and not sandals or flip-flops).
